Bromley College is a ‘Positive about Disabled People’ employer. This means that if you disclose a disability, we can make reasonable adjustments for you at each stage of the recruitment and selection process and, if you join us, to where and how you work.

Pre-employment Checks

All prospective employees must meet the following minimum eligibility criteria, which apply to all roles within the College.

  • Eligibility to work in the UK

The College will be required to verify your eligibility to work in the UK. This means that we will not be able to offer you employment if this would be in breach of the Immigration legislation.

  • Employment and Character References

It is the College’s policy to obtain two references satisfactory to the College, one of which must be from your present or most recent employer.

  • Disclosure of criminal convictions

All appointments at the College are subject to a criminal record check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), either paper based or on line. For all roles, where close and unsupervised contact with students and vulnerable adults is likely, the College requires an Enhanced level disclosure with additional information from the barring list. If you wish to read more about how we carry out the DBS checks, please view our policy here.

  • Medical Clearance

All new staff are required to complete a medical questionnaire which will be reviewed by our Occupational Health Service, who will provide the College with confirmation of your ability to carry out the work for which you are seeking employment.

Notice to applicants:

Due to the high volume of applications the College often receives, we regret that it is not always possible to respond to every applicant with the outcome of their application, particularly during periods of high staff recruitment activity. If you have submitted an application and have not heard back from us within 4 weeks of the date of submission, please assume that your application has not been successful on this occasion. However, we hope that this will not prevent you from reapplying for any future vacancies that may arise within the College.

Please note the College reserves the right to bring forward any of the published closing dates, in the event that the College receives a high volume of good calibre applications. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you apply for one of our roles as soon as possible, rather than wait until the identified closing date.
