Martha, Access to HE

"Everyone was so supportive. It's boosted my confidence!"

“I’d been at home looking after my little boy for the last six years – and I didn’t just want to jump into a job for the sake of it, I wanted to study for a qualification and build a career.    I really liked the idea of doing a job where I helped people, and decided I wanted to be a Social Worker.

The College has been brilliant. Four weeks into my Access to HE course I discovered I was pregnant, and everyone made it so easy for me to fit in hospital appointments – they even moved test dates to fit in with my due date!   Everyone was so supportive.   The facilities are great. For about three months I didn’t have a computer at home so I used the library – it’s a really nice space and I haven’t missed not having a computer at home.

I’m starting university in September – the Advice and Guidance team helped me with my UCAS application and I’ll be studying Social Work at the University of Kent.

I think Bromley College has the right atmosphere and the tutors played a big part for me.   I’ve had a brilliant time here – it’s given me so much hope, it’s made me think about the future.   It’s boosted my confidence! I didn’t think I could do it before!”
