Apprenticeship in Customer Service

General information

The customer service apprenticeship is available for learners aged from 16-65 who are employed in a customer service environment for a minimum or 16 hours a week. College attendance is on a day-release basis and assessment will take place in the workplace. Learners are required to build a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate their skills, understanding and knowledge of the subject. Training is provided through workshop sessions, tutorials and classroom teaching.

Course content

In-house training will take place one day a week and regular assessments and reviews will occur in the workplace. Learners will work towards an NVQ level 2 in Customer Service, a technical certificate in Customer Service, (a combination of practical and theory work), and level 1 key skills in Application of Number and Communication.

Entry requirements

Learners wishing to start a customer service apprenticeship must be employed in a customer service environment and be able to attend college one day a week.

Further information

Training on the Apprenticeships Programme for 16 to 18 year olds is a priority and fully-funded by Government. Training for Apprenticeships for 19 to 24 year olds is part funded, with employers expected to make a contribution. Funding for apprentices aged 25 is very limited and employers are expected to make a part or full contribution.
